First hired by Kotobukiya Limited (Suntory) to help build the Yamazaki Distillery in 1923 and in turn produce the first genuine whisky in Japan. Nikka boast two very different distilleries Yoichi Distillery first produced distillate in 1936 (North) and Miyagikyo Distillery (central) opened in 1969. Nikka have there own bottling plant and also boast one of the largest offerings in Japan. Released April 9, 2019 the Nikka Tailored is the long-awaited replacement of The Nikka 12 bottling. Although no age-statement, this whisky is exceptionally crafted. Expect big things from Nikka’s new premium whisky offering. Our Tasting Notes Nose: Fruity and lively with malty notes of cookies and biscuits, vanilla and caramel Palate: Sweet with a firm malt base, gentle sweetness from the Coffey grain Finish: Cocoa and dried fruit, the aroma of maple syrup on hot pancakes.
