Located in the heart of Speyside the distillery boasts its own floor maltings. The maltings only make up about 15% of the mash bill but adds a personal touch to the characteristics of this fine Scottish whisky. The Balvenie was one of the first distilleries in the world to introduce a ‘finished’ single malt whisky with the launch of the doublewood in 1993. The Balvenie 12 year old doublewood single malt whisky is aged in refill American oak ex-bourbon casks then finished in first fill European oak Sherry casks.
