Only seen annually in the Diageo special release bottling’s this closed distillery’s whisky is now getting harder to find. Built in 1975 and closed in 1993 the distillery had a short life maturing spirit mainly in ex-Sherry barrels used in Bell’s blended whisky. This ‘ghost’ or closed distillery has now been torn down and the stock are dwindling quickly, might be worth tucking a few bottles away in case they vanish forever. This Diageo 2020 Special Release was matured for 30 years using first-fill ex-bourbon casks. The Diageo Special Release bottling’s from 2020 have a theme of ‘Rare by Nature’ and the gift tin has a wonderful image of a pheasant or fowl on the front. Only 7,056 bottles available for worldwide distribution. Our Tasting Notes Nose: Wonderful vibrant tropical fruit notes combine with peppery vanilla and some dried herbs. Taste: Bursting with fruits and peppery notes, creamy vanilla, oily and very well balanced. Finish: A superb dram, short to medium and full of gentle spices and balanced sweetness.  .
