Malted barley is dried over a peat fire formed from peat only found on Islay. This unique smoke gives Laphroaig its rich flavour. The spirit is then matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels for no less than ten years developing hints of seaweed, sweet smoky malted barley and a bold, rich flavour. This full-bodied variant is the foundation of all Laphroaig expressions and comes with a long finish. A smoky household favourite which can start a long pleasant journey through the ages of Scotland. Official Tasting Notes Nose: Huge smoke, seaweedy, “medicinal”, with a hint of sweetness.
