Kilchoman 2010 Vintage Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) Volume: 700ml ABV: 46% Age: 9 Years Old Country: Scotland The Kilchoman Distillery was established in 2005, Kilchoman (pronounced Kilhoman) is one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. Based on a farm on the rugged west coast of Islay, Kilchoman is the first distillery to be built on the Island for 125 years. Kilchoman gives everyone the chance to see what is best about the grass-roots traditions of malt distilling. As well as being one of only a handful of distilleries still practicing floor malting, they also grow their own barley at the distillery, completing all parts of the production process at the distillery – from barley to bottling. This is the fourth and final limited edition release of 2019 for the Kilchoman distillery. Kilchoman have released vintage releases of the past few years to show the whisky community how their single malt is developing. The 2010 release is a vatting of 45 casks which were all distilled in 2010. 42 fresh ex-bourbon American oak barrels and 3 Oloroso Sherry butts were used. It was then bottled at 48% abv and only 15,000 bottles were produced for worldwide consumption. The addition of the Oloroso Sherry barrel maturation has added depth and flavour to this whisky as well as a spicy influence. OurTasting Notes Nose: Lemon zest, sweet spices and peat smoke.
