Volume: 700ml ABV: 46% Age: No Age Statement Country: Scotland Port Ellen is one of the three main villages on Islay and one of the two ferry terminals on the island. The distillery was founded in 1825 and expanded in the late 1960’s. In 1983 production ceased, however the maltings are still currently operational This whisky has wonderful dark gold colour and is medium bodied. It was matured in a refill American Hogshead. With a medium , drying finish and plenty of peat smoke influences. Distilled 1980 and bottled 2015. It is limited to 236 bottles worldwide. Official Tasting Notes Aroma without water: Vanilla ice cream, ripe pear, and cinnamon aromas mingle with dried tobacco and charred oak. Taste without water: Ground white pepper leads to sweet red berries, dried mango, and kiwi flavours. A rich smoky edge is present giving way to a subtle aniseed edge. Aroma with water: The nose develops floral elements with hints of lavender and violet. Green apple, tangerine, and red grape are complemented by green tea aromas. Taste with water: Sweet initially with candied fruits giving way to a touch of liquorice and salt. Peat smoke lingers.. For adults of legal drinking age. Please drink responsibly.
