It was officially established in 1775, though the site dates back to 1717 when there was numerous illicit stills in Glenturret.It was closed in the mid 1920’s and then resurrected in the late 1950’s by Peter Fairlie who repositioned The Macallan brand globally. The distillery is focused on the blended whisky Famous Grouse of which it has a visitors centre named ‘The Famous Grouse ’ which attracts over 120,000 visitors annually. Expect a mellow, full bodied and smooth dram. Usually very light in colour with a balance of old oak, sweet honey, fresh fruits and barley. This release has matured for 12 years in European Oak, before being bottled at 46% ABV Our Tasting Notes Nose: Cake from the oven, spices, and a touch of dried fruit Taste: fruit at the forefront, warm wave of spice with hints of citrus fruits Finish: shorter finish, lots of oak and spice.
