The distillery was founded in 1897 by W P Lowrie, a Glasgow-based whisky trader, and James Buchanan, a renowned blender. The distillery was built on the Tauchers farm which sits four miles west of the town of Keith. The distillery boasts long fermentation and slow distillation making the whisky more floral and light than earthy and weighty. North Star Spirits is an independent bottler based in Glasgow, Scotland. They pride themselves on bottling the finest single malt Scotch whisky, blended whisky and blended malt Scotch whisky. Producing artisan single cask whisky from various regions of Scotland as well as bottling rums, gins and Bourbon whiskey. All products are small batch, bottled at cask strength. This North Star bottling was distilled at the Glentauchers Distillery in March 2008. It was matured in an Oloroso Butt. Bottled as part of the Cask Series 21 only 708 bottles were produced with a much smaller amount making it to Australia. Bottled at 58.1% abv.
