It is matured in 60% ex-Sherry casks and 40% ex-Bourbon casks. The maturation in the Bourbon casks are slightly different to the normal maturation guidelines. Before using the casks they are shaved back slightly. This allows the whisky to gain more flavour influence from the Sherry casks, resulting in a richer, fruitier whisky. Many whisky enthusiasts and writers consider this single malt whisky to be amongst some of the best in the world.   The 12 Year Old expression has the benefit from the extra 2 years maturation from the 10yo, as it moves more toward the heavy sherried expressions that come with more age. Bottled at 43% and in a 1L bottle.
