In 1789 he became the first distiller to age his whiskey in new charred oak barrels, and new he had discovered something great. He continued to refine the the barrel charring process, giving the spirit a smooth rich flavour, and now more than 200 years later he is still known as “The Father of Bourbon”. The current Master Distillers at Elijah Craig distillery remain committed to honouring Elijah’s innovative spirit. This small batch bourbon whiskey is the award-winning bourbon that started it all. Expect warm spice and subtle smoke flavours due to Level 3 Charred Oak Barrels. Tasting Notes Nose: sweet caramel, with nutty notes and hints of chocolate and coffee Palate: continued caramel and vanilla, with elements of nuts and citrus and spice.
