Craigellachie 2008 Aged 9 Years Single Malt Scotch Whisky – Signatory Vintage (700ml) Volume: 700ml ABV: 43% Age: 9 Years Old Country: Scotland Cask Number(s): 800096 + 800098 Date of Distilling: 20/06/2008 Date of Bottling: 20/03/2018 Matured In: ex-Bourbon Barrels Craigellachie, like most distilleries, had spent its life providing fillings for blends. 90% of all Scotch whisky sold globally is blended whisky. Most larger distilleries survive only to provide the spirit for those blends. However most of these distilleries are noticing the resurgence in the desire to drink single malt whisky instead of a blend. Craigellachie is quite unique in the method it uses to make its whisky. The worm tubs used at Craigellachie are fairly unique and to allow the whisky to take on a meaty, full bodied character with hints of sulphur these worm tubs are essential. They are also an old fashioned way of producing whisky and a method not many distilleries currently use. This independent bottle by Signatory has been matured in two ex-Bourbon barrels for 9 years. There are few independent bottling’s of Craigellachie about and this one is a great whisky. Our Tasting Notes Nose: Lemon meringue pie with wood smoke and ash. Palate: Freshly squeezed apples and pears, vanilla fills the mouth and is complimented by caramel sweetness and plenty of refined oak. Finish: Digestive biscuits and wood smoke.. For adults of legal drinking age. Please drink responsibly.
