Categories: Bourbon Barrel, Knockando Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Knockando Aged 12 Years Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) Volume: 700ml ABV: 43% Age: 12 Years Old Country: Scotland This distillery was founded by the Knockando-Glenlivet Distillery Company in 1898 and opened it’s doors in 1900 but was then closed only two years later. It then reopened in 1904. Knockando is Gaelic for ‘little black hill’ and this distillery was the first in Speyside to use electricity for lighting. The distillery also had its own Railway station on the line that ran east from Grantown-on-spey. Knockando is currently owned by Diageo which was purchased in 1997 when Grand Met merged with Guinness. The distilleries source of water comes from Cardnach Spring and the distillery produces 1,300,000 litres of whisky annually. Only about 13,000 litres is used to make single malt the rest being used in blended varieties. Knockando distillery is situated in Aberlour a small town in Banffshire, 27 kilometres west of Keith. It’s hard to believe we can tell you that this is a lesser known distillery in the Speyside region of Scotland. So many large well known distilleries surrounding it means that it’s over shadowed. It always delivers though, time and time again the whisky produced here is light and creamy, full of sweetness. This expression aged for 12 years is no exception. Our Tasting Notes Nose: Fruity and floral with a slight meatiness Palate: Sugary sweetness, light spice with summer fruits. Finish: Balanced fruit and spice.. For adults of legal drinking age. Please drink responsibly.
