Volume: 500ml ABV: 59% Age: 25 Years Old Country: Japan Wakatsuru Shuzo traces its history back to 1862, when a sake brewery was established in the town of Tonami, in Toyama prefecture and has been making whisky since 1952 at their Saburomaru distillery (but only for a few months each year). All the malt they distil is heavily peated (50ppm), an anomaly for Japanese whisky, and aged in charred ex-bourbon and refill Yamanashi wine casks from the days when Wakatsuru Shuzo dabbled in port wine. The distillery made headlines in 2016 when they released the oldest single malt Japanese whisky ever bottled at 55 years-old. The 1990 single malt is one off release and the last expressions under the original Sun Shine brand, with the new ‘Saburomaru’ line reserved for single malts expressions hence forth. A one-off bottling limited to 500 bottles, this 25 year-old single malt is bottled at cask strength and comes in a porcelain decanter with wood display case. Rare Japanese whisky delivered to your doorstep, free and insured.. For adults of legal drinking age. Please drink responsibly.
