1979 Glenlochy 36 Years Single Malt Scotch Whisky (Gordon and Macphail) (700ml) Volume: 700ml ABV: 46% Age: 36 Years Country: Scotland As far as rare single malt whiskies go the spirit and whisky produced at the Glenlochy distillery in Fort William remains the rarest. The distillery did not ever release any official bottling’s but instead used it’s product for the making of blends. The distillery closed in 1979 and was demolished the same year to make way for residential property. This independent release from Gordon & MacPhail was bottled in 2012 after spending over 36 years maturing in their warehouses in a refill Sherry hogshead. It was given 95 points in Jim Murray’s 2014 Whisky Bible Official Tasting Notes Nose without Water: Campino boiled sweets and fresh apple pie. Freshly cut green grass and driftwood aromas. Palate without Water: Initially sweet and salty – toasted digestive biscuits – with a hint of smoke. Nose with Water: Aromas of Manzanilla Sherry and hot sand on the beach. Dark chocolate and freshly ground black pepper notes emerge. Palate with Water: A subtle smokiness with flavours of freshly baked shortcrust pastry and oiled wood developing. Long finish.. For adults of legal drinking age. Please drink responsibly.
