Being bottled at the increased 57% helps improved on the strong, smokey characteristics of this Islay whisky. Coming from a mysterious ‘un-named’ distillery on Islay, Scarbus was launched for Fèis Ile 2019 by Hunter Laing. Meaning ‘Rocky Place’ in Old Norse, Scarabus is named after a mysterious part of Islay, and this mystery is reflected in the bottle. Our Tasting Notes Nose: Islay peat, sea spray, with a touch of spice and sweet vanilla Taste: Leathery oak, apples with continuing vanilla and peat smoke Finish: Long smoky finish, with notes of toffee sweetness.
